It’s a job interview with a difference – with one Irish tourism body looking to hire an executive through their tweets or instagram posts.
Kildare Tourism is looking for a Chief Experience Officer – a digital brand ambassador to promote  the county’s visitor attractions online.
Into Kildare, the online site for tourists looking to travel to Kildare said the search which will take place over the next five weeks. Applicants must post a photo to Instagram or Twitter using #IntoKildare showcasing what they love most about their county.
An honorary title, Kildare’s Chief Experience Officer will spend a year sampling the best that Kildare has to offer visitors, while documenting their experiences on social media for the world to see.
It’s a similar idea to the successful ‘Best Job in the World’ job created by Tourism Queensland, which hired British charity worker Ben Southall to be a caretaker of the islands of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef for six months.

“We are looking for a social media-savvy local with a love of all things Kildare to showcase the county to a global audience,” said County Kildare Tourism Development Manager Aine Mangan.
“Your photo should show off what you love best about Kildare or what you feel would be most attractive to people deciding to visit the county.
“We will sit down with the winner to plan their year based around the wealth of attractions and experiences available under the Into Kildare tourism brand. This is a fantastic opportunity for those of all ages with a love of taking pictures or someone who wants to learn more about the world of travel tourism, blogging and social media.”
The winner’s photos will be used online, on social media and in print to showcase the county to a global audience. Entry is open to everyone in Kildare who loves their county and wants to share it with the world.
The best entries will be showcased on the intokildare.ie website and the winning photo will be selected by a team of tourism professionals. The competition will run until March 18, with winner announced on March 23.
