Reports are emerging of the loss near Argunovo of a Saratov Airlines Antonov An-148-100B leased from Aercap owned International Lease Finance Corporation with the loss of six crew and 65 passengers.
Flight 6W703 took off from runway 14R at Domodedovo Airport at 14:21 hours local time (11:21 UTC). Last contact on flight tracking website Flightradar24 was 14:27 hours. RT reports that there are no survivors.
Registration number RA-61704 (MSN 27015040006) is one of seven aircraft in the fleet of regional carrier Saratov Airlines based in Saratov .It recently arrived from the fleet of Rossiya – Russian Airlines.
This is the first fatal accident involving a commercial Antonov An-148 (Ukrainian: Антонов Ан-148), an 80-passenger regional jet designed and built by the Ukrainian Antonov company. In 2011 a test flight crashed killing all six crew members. Two are leased from IFC, which was purchased by Aercap in 2013.
In April 2017, Cubana de Aviación suspended its flights between Havana and Guantánamo due to “technical problems” with its An-158 fleet. The route from Havana to Holguín also had problems: of 116 planned flights in the first months of 2017, 38 were cancelled and 36 suffered significant delays.
Saratov Airlines was founded in 1931 as part of Aeroflot. It made history in 2013 when it became the first became the first Russian operator of Embraer E-Jets, with the arrival of two Embraer 195 114-seat aircraft.
Russian aviation authorities sanctioned Saratov Airlines from October 14 2015 to May 2016 after what it called a violation of security rules preventing it from operating flights to destinations outside of Russia
