Volker Lorenz, the German born General Manager for Amadeus in ireland, is to depart the company at the end of June after twelve years in the role.

Volker Lorenz said: this hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but I know you’ll be well looked after by  the highly experienced local team as well as thanks to additional support from Champa Magesh, Managing Director for Amadeus Britain and Ireland. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with so many of you during a time that has witnessed the growth in development and usage of Amadeus travel technology to become a critical success factor whether you’re operating in the retail, online or business travel arenas. I am especially proud of the local Irish team and how we have developed long-standing relationships – friendships in many cases – with so customers and trade partners due to our commitment to the local market as well as our award-winning service and solutions. However, I feel the time is now right for me to open a new chapter in my life and career and I will be leaving the business at the end of June. Please do feel free to drop me a line with any questions or comments you might have. I know also that Champa will make herself available should you want to discuss this with her personally at any time. It has been a pleasure working with you and I wish you all the best for the future. It is probably only a matter of time until our paths cross again.

Champa Magesh said: I would like to add a personal ‘thank you’ to Volker for his contribution in helping Amadeus become the leading travel technology company in Ireland that it is today. I am confident I speak for the whole of Amadeus Ireland and for our colleagues in the UK when I say that we wish Volker every success in whatever he chooses to do next in his career. No doubt one of Volker’s legacies to the Irish market is his tireless development of a professional, friendly local team who understand the market better than anyone. Trish O’Leary, a name I’m sure you know very well, will be stepping in to take over some as Commercial Director for Ireland on an interim basis. Additionally, I am personally going to become more involved in the Irish market to support the continued success of our customers. So I want to assure all our customers and business partners In Ireland that it will be very much business as usual. If you have any questions during this period of change, please contact your Account Manager in the first instance. But please also remember, my door is always open – do get in touch if you have any comments or concerns at all. I’m looking forward to working more closely with our customers in the Irish market.
