- Bodenstown Graveyard, near Sallins, Theobald Wolfe Tone (1763–1798). Known as the father of Irish republicanism and a leader of the 1798 rebellion. The grave was the subject of a famous Thomas Davis ballad and an annual pilgrimage in June for the resistance movement and its breakaways.
- Oughterard Cemetery, near Ardclough. Arthur Guinness (1725–1803), The founder of the Guinness Brewery.
- Arkle (1957–1970), Originally Bryanstown Maynooth, relocated to the Irish National Stud, Tully, Kildare Town. Regarded as perhaps the greatest National Hunt racehorse of all time, he is buried there, and his skeleton is on display at the nearby Horse Museum.
- Oughterard Cemetery, Olivia Guinness (Whitmore) (d. 1814), Wife of Arthur Guinness, buried alongside him.
- Maudlins Cemetery, Walter Hussey Burgh (1742–1783), A prominent Irish politician and Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer, known for his eloquence in the Irish House of Commons.
- Clonaghlis, Ardclough: Tony Ryan (1936-2007), founder of Ireland’s aviation leasing industry and Ryanair.
- Grey Abbey, Kildare Town, Gerald FitzGerald (Various Earls). A Franciscan foundation established in the 13th century, it is the burial place of many of the powerful Earls of Kildare.
- Saint Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge, Lieutenant-General Dermot Earley DSM (1948–2010), a major figure in Gaelic football and politics/military; a legendary Roscommon footballer (All-Ireland finalist) and Irish Army officer who rose to Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces; honoured for leadership in both sport and service, interred there on 24 June 2010.
- Dunfierth Church, Carbury, William De Birmingham (16th Century). A carved effigy of this knight in armor is located in the vaulted ruin of the church.
- Mainham Cemetery, Clane Peter Mackey (d. 1872), While not as famous as a politician, his grave is notable because it is carved from the original stone tomb of Wolfe Tone, placed there before the monument at Bodenstown was replaced.
- Castlemartin, Maurice Eustace (d. 1665), Lord Chancellor of Ireland under Charles II, lawyer, and politician; key figure in Restoration-era Irish governance and land settlements. Due to concerns regarding his religious alignment (specifically rumors that he was secretly buried as a Catholic) and to honor his high office, a formal state funeral was later held for him on July 5, 1665, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, where a wax effigy was used as a proxy for his body. .
- Kildare Abbey, William Robert Fitzgerald, 2nd Duke of Leinster (1749–1804), Prominent Anglo-Irish nobleman, landowner, and politician; head of the Fitzgerald family (Dukes of Leinster), involved in Irish parliamentary affairs and estate management at Carton House. Buried in (ruins near Kildare town, Co. Kildare).
- Carton, Walter Fitzgerald (1859–1923), Antiquarian, genealogist, and member of the Fitzgerald family; contributed to the Kildare Archaeological Society and studies of Irish history/heraldry. Buried in the family vault at Maynooth.
- St Brigid’s Cathedral, Kildare, Henry Fitzgerald (d. 1575) ,12th Earl of Kildare (briefly); Gaelic-Irish nobleman from the Kildare Fitzgerald line, involved in Tudor-era conflicts and rebellions.
- Johnstown church, Richard Southwell Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo (1822–1872), Viceroy of India (1869–1872), Conservative politician, and Chief Secretary for Ireland; assassinated in the Andaman Island and famously brought home in a barrel of rum.
- Rathcoffey, Michael Quigley (1768–1849), United Irishman and rebel; participated in the 1798 uprising in Kildare; later a local figure in Rathcoffey area.
- Lyons (Ardclough); Valentine Lawless (1773-1853); United Irish leader who became the second Lord Cloncurry, reforming landlord and advocate of Irish rights.
