The United States NTSB has dispatched a team of 10 investigators to the site of the collision between two Delta aircraft at LaGuardia Airport in New York last Wednesday night, with flight recorders from both planes recovered and sent to headquarters for examination.

Air traffic control directed the Virginia-bound aircraft to hold short and yield to the other plane prior to the incident.

The FAA released a statement confirming the instructions given, though responsibility remains undetermined.

Analysis of the recorders will provide further insights into the sequence of events leading to the crash.

Federal Aviation Administration shared “air traffic control had instructed the Virginia-bound plane ‘to hold short and yield to the other aircraft’ before the collision.”
