- Passengers who pay for seat selection can check in 30 days in advance
- Passengers who do not have just 4 days to check in
Ryanair are reducing the advance check-in window to four days from seven days before departure from the beginning of November, for those who pick the chepaest option, free seat selection.
Passengers who wish to book more than four days in advance will have to pay €6 for their choice of seat.
Passengers without the Ryanair app on their smart phones who do not wish to pay the €6 will now have to source a printer while on holiday abroad. In additoin, some airports in Greece and Morocco cannot handle smartphones at check-in.
Otherwise travellers can opt to pay €6 per person, per flight for assigned seating.
Ryanair’s email to passengers said: “From 1st November, free online check-in will be available from 4 days to 2 hours ahead of departure. Customers who do not wish to reserve their preferred seat, can check-in online or on the mobile app free of charge between 4 days and 2 hours before departure and will be allocated a random seat. Affected customers who do not wish to accept this policy change have the right to cancel and request a refund.”
Customers who purchase seats can check-in between 30 days and up to 2 hours before their scheduled flight departure time.
A Ryanair spokesperson said the move was in response to “extensive customer feedback and is intended “to increase the choice available to customers who wish to reserve their seat onboard”.
