Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú has called for Kerry Airport to receive increased regular exchequer funding. The MEP raised the issue after a meeting with representatives from Airports Council International.
A report warned that European airports could face a €360bn infrastructure investment shortfall by 2040.
She said the current funding model for Kerry Airport was not sustainable and increased funding helped to stave off possible future investment turbulence at the airport.
