Brussels Court ruling backing Ryanair’s cabin baggage policy is now final

The Brussels Enterprise Court ruling on 28 January that Ryanair’s cabin baggage policy complied with EU law is now final and binding.

The court confirmed passengers received a free underseat bag of reasonable size and weight for personal effects. The court rejected the requirement for airlines to include larger overhead-locker bags in basic fares.

Test Achats decided not to appeal the ruling, which became final and binding. The ruling aligned Belgium with judgments from courts in Italy, Germany, and Spain that upheld Ryanair’s policy.

Dara Brady shared “We welcome Test Achats’ decision not to appeal this clear and comprehensive ruling confirming – once again and in line with EU and national courts across Italy, Germany, Spain, and the CJEU, that Ryanair’s cabin baggage policy is fully compliant with EU law.”
