Wizz Air warns Iran conflict will impact in current fiscal year

Wizz Air has warned that the financial impact from the Iran conflict will affect its fiscal year ending this month.

The conflict has impacted about 5pc of capacity, around 50 flights out of 1,000 daily. The airline is reallocating 60pc to 70pc of Middle East capacity to European destinations including Italy, Spain, Greece and Albania.

CEO Jozsef Varadi predicted that pressure will ease from April, with growth expected in the new fiscal year starting then. Wizz has hedged fuel at 83pc for the year to March 2026 and 55pc for the following year.

Jozsef Varadi shared “We are expecting improvement for fiscal 2027. The disruption is happening in our low season – we will have time to reallocate for peak summer. I don’t think any airline is better hedged than Wizz Air. We are not naked.”
