United Airlines has confirmed the introduction of United Relax Row at a media event in Los Angeles. The airline presented the convertible seating concept that lets passengers stretch out across a row of three economy seats to form a couch style surface for sleeping or lounging. The product will debut in 2027 and it will appear on more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft by the end of the decade.
The Relax Row sits behind Premium Plus in the cabin hierarchy. Each aircraft will feature up to 12 of these sections with an average of nine. Adjustable leg rests extend to a 90 degree angle and the three seats form a continuous surface for lying down.
Passengers who book the product receive a fitted mattress pad a larger blanket and additional pillows. Families receive plush toys and activity kits. Solo travellers can book an entire row depending on availability.
Andre Nocella shared “this expanded range of choices is what will position United ahead of the competition.”
