Workers have started removal of the concrete fins on the outside of Terminal 1. This first phase covers fins on the south eastern corner of the terminal. The removal allows installation of a new glass and solid panel facade around the entire terminal. The unused parking spiral ramp remains in place.

The project forms part of upgrades to the terminal structure. Officials confirmed the changes improve energy efficiency. Construction teams follow set procedures for the demolition work.

The work is proceeding in the designated area only with operations at the terminal continuing during the initial phase.
