IATA reports 4pc growth in air cargo market April 2026

  • Asia Pacific achieved 10.5pc demand growth.
  • Africa Asia lane grew 12.8pc.
  • Middle East demand fell 18.2pc.
  • Europe Asia recorded 16.2pc increase.

Air cargo demand has grown by 4.0pc year on year in April 2026 per IATA figures. Capacity measured in available cargo tonne kilometres decreased by 0.4pc while the load factor stood at 46.0pc. Asia Pacific led regional performance with 10.5pc growth.

Africa Asia trade lanes recorded 12.8pc growth over 10 consecutive months. Europe Asia lanes increased by 16.2pc. Middle East linked corridors declined due to ongoing conflict with Europe Middle East down 25.9pc.

North American carriers reported 5.0pc demand growth. European carriers saw 6.0pc increase. Latin American carriers experienced a 2.8pc decrease.
