Shannon Archaeological and Historical Society has celebrated its 50th anniversary in Shannon Airport Viewing Gallery. Over 100 people attended the event that marked five decades of the society work. The gathering included the launch of the 50th edition of The Other Clare journal which the society has published since 1977. Shannon Airport featured in this special edition as a historical archive of the area past and present.
The society chose the viewing gallery as an appropriate location for the milestone. Attendees viewed displays and shared accounts from the society history. The journal edition captured developments in Shannon over the years.
Organisers coordinated the event smoothly with participation from local community members. The occasion recognised contributions from many individuals involved since the society formation.

With over a hundred people in attendance, it was a great occasion marking five decades of their work, together with the launch of the 50th edition of “The Other Clare”, the Society’s annual journal published since 1977. We’re also honoured to be featured in this special edition, which serves as a historical archive, capturing the story of Shannon, past and present.
