Tanzania has completed development projects at three airports with passenger operations set to begin. Musoma prepares to launch commercial flights in July 2026 after eight years. Shinyanga finishes reconstruction by August 2026.
The Tanzanian government initiated the projects at the start of the decade. Air Tanzania carried out successful DHC-8-Q400 test flights at Musoma and Shinyanga on 12 June 2026. Msalato International Airport in Dodoma also prepares for September 2026 operations.
Musoma received a TZS35 billion revamp equal to €13.4 million that began in 2021. Shinyanga underwent a TZS45 billion reconstruction equal to €17.2 million that started in 2023. Passenger services commence at all three sites by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
