Student pilot lands safely in Argentina after the instructor left the aircraft

A student pilot has landed a Cessna 150 aircraft safely after an incident during a training flight in Cordoba province. The 22 year old completed the landing at Coronel Olmedo aerodrome on Saturday after the instructor left the aircraft. Investigations continue into the event.

The instructor, Leandro Bertazzo, aged 42, opened the door and jumped from around 250 metres. The student, who held a private pilot licence, radioed for assistance. Bertazzo possessed an airline transport pilot licence and underwent retraining.

Reports indicate Bertazzo received psychiatric treatment for personal issues.
