The Minister for Transport has opened a new Fire Training Centre at Ireland West Airport that provides dedicated facilities for emergency preparedness.
The centre supports the airport’s fire service team with modern training infrastructure. The project received over €2.3m in Exchequer funding under the Regional Airports Programme. It enables practical training on site to strengthen response capability and meet regulatory requirements.
Ireland West Airport Managing Director Joe Gilmore welcomed the development as part of ongoing investment in safety and operations. The facility equips firefighting staff with resources to maintain safety standards and support regional connectivity.
Minister Darragh O’Brien shared “I am delighted to officially open this state-of-the-art Aerodrome Fire Training Centre here at Ireland West Airport.”
