Wizz Air to decide whether to close Belgrade dbase in December

Wizz Air will decide whether to close its Belgrade Nikola Tesla base by late September 2026. The low-cost carrier confirmed that if it closes the base, it will continue to serve the Serbian capital at reduced capacity. Wizz Air warned of a potential base closure in June 2026 following changes to foreign airline regulations in Serbia.

On 13 July 2026, the airline submitted a petition with 21,000 signatures in support of preserving the base. Base manager Nevena Todorović urged the Serbian authorities to respond to the airline’s request for dialogue to find a compromise. The airline operates from Belgrade as part of its regional network.

Wizz Air’s decision on the base will determine the future of its operations from Belgrade. The airline has been operating from the Serbian capital as part of its expansion in the Balkan region.
