Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope has stated that new orders are not the company’s main preoccupation for the Farnborough Airshow. She stated the priority is to listen to customers and understand their challenges. She noted the backlog is incredibly strong and demand is not the issue.
Pope stated next-generation aircraft would have to wait for several factors to come into alignment, including financial capacity, market readiness and customer value perception. She stated the supply chain remains a little volatile but the company has changed the way it works with suppliers over the last two years. Boeing is sharing lessons learned in quality and training with suppliers and sending experts to partner with them.
Pope stated the integration of Spirit Aerosystems is going well. She stated Spirit had to be stabilized before it could be optimized in areas such as increasing production. She stated there is a significant improvement in quality but there is still more work to be done.
Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, shared, “Our priority is not order announcements. Backlog is incredibly strong. Demand is not our issue. I think the supply chain is still a little bit volatile, and so that’s why I’m really proud that we’ve changed the way we work with our suppliers over the last couple of years.”
Stephanie Pope shared, “Overall, integration is going good. We knew Spirit very well. We had a lot of people down there and inside of their factory before we even closed the deal.”
