Emerald Airlines has signed a new long term maintenance agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the PW127M engines powering its ATR 72 600 fleet.
Pratt & Whitney Canada hsecured the nearly five-year engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) agreement with Emerald Airlines to support its turboprop fleet through 2030. Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the contract covers the PW127M engines powering the Irish regional carrier’s ATR 72-600 fleet.
Comprehensive MRO services designed to optimize maintenance costs and maximize fleet dispatch reliability. Maintenance will predominantly occur at Pratt & Whitney Canada’s specialised turboprop facility in Singapore. Additional support will be managed from the manufacturer’s facility in Montreal.
The contract structure is designed to preserve asset value over time to satisfy aircraft lessors. Emerald Airlines,the exclusive operator of the Aer Lingus Regional network, gains long-term cost predictability for its short-haul sectors.
The PW127M engine family offers a 25pc to 40pc reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions on routes under 350 miles compared to regional jets. Additionally, these engines are certified to run on up to a 50pc sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend
The deal ensures continued reliable operations for the regional airline’s services across Ireland and Eruope. This agreement highlights ongoing investment in aviation maintenance and fleet reliability in the Irish market.
