Texas-based lessor and investment firm 777 Partners has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, almost two weeks after creditors sought to liquidate the company. The affiliated companies include 777 Asset Management LLC and 777 Partners LLC, which had backed now-defunct Australian start-up Bonza and existing Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines. The bankruptcy court designated the proceedings as complex Chapter 11 cases and scheduled initial omnibus hearings for 8 September and 13 October 2026. 777 Partners had been placed under a limited receivership on 18 August 2025.

Three investment funds filed an involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition against 777 Partners on 16 July 2026, days after securing an amended judgment for USD26 million against the Miami-based firm in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. Co-founder Josh Wander awaits trial in the Southern District Court of New York on charges of conspiracy to commit fraud over an alleged scheme that defrauded lenders and investors of nearly USD500 million. Prosecutors allege Wander and others misrepresented 777 Partners’ financial condition and collateral from 2021 to 2024.
