The Airbus Asia Training Centre has announced it will house an A220 Full-Flight Simulator for the Asia Pacific region at its Singapore campus, scheduled to become operational in Q4 2027. The joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines will deploy the A220 Training Services in partnership with Flight Training Alliance, the Airbus Authorised Training Provider for the A220, with FTA deploying the Full Flight Simulator while AATC manages operations and training delivery. The announcement was made at the Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The new simulator will support the region’s growing demand for pilot and maintenance training on the A220, with the deployment marking a vital milestone in Airbus’s strategy to provide seamless, high-quality support close to where customers operate. According to Airbus’s latest Global Market Forecast, urbanisation will shift to smaller cities over the next 20 years, driving airlines to expand connectivity beyond traditional megacities. The A220’s long range of up to 3,600 nautical miles, 25pc lower operating costs per seat and right-sized capacity from 100 to 160 seats will enable airlines to operate new and more commercially viable routes across rapidly growing economies.
At the end of July 2026, Airbus had delivered 532 A220s to over 25 operators globally, with total orders for the programme surpassing 1,100 aircraft. AATC and FTA will deliver a complete suite of A220 flight crew type-rating and recurrent training alongside a dedicated team of certified A220 flight instructors and operations technicians. Located at Seletar Aerospace Park, AATC is one of the largest flight crew training centres in the global Airbus network, offering type rating and recurrent training courses for all in-production Airbus types with 10 FFS bays.
