ANA has relaunched its Free Domestic Airfare Offer for Europe-based travellers booking winter trips to Japan, with ITA Airways joining Lufthansa as a partner airline for 2026. Customers booking eligible fares between 1 and 30 September 2026 for travel between 1 December 2026 and 28 February 2027 can add up to two free ANA domestic flight sectors to their international itinerary. Combined with ANA’s existing Stopover benefit, the offer allows a single booking to include stops in Tokyo alongside regional destinations.

JNTO research cited by ANA found that 69.2pc of travellers are aware of Japanese destinations beyond Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The offer aims to spread demand more evenly across the domestic network, which covers more than 40 destinations, and to ease pressure on the most visited cities where local authorities have flagged overtourism concerns. Eligible customers can use the two free domestic sectors as a stopover en route or as an add-on once in Japan.

Destinations accessible through the offer include Tohoku in Japan’s northeastern region, which experiences heavy snowfall in winter and contains multiple onsen towns and smaller ski resorts. Kyushu’s volcanic activity has produced a concentration of onsen towns, with Kagoshima served by the Sheraton Kagoshima overlooking the active Sakurajima volcano. Okinawa, at the southern end of ANA’s domestic network, offers a milder winter climate than mainland Japan, with Naha providing hotel options including the Doubletree by Hilton Naha Shuri Castle.
