The Ulster Aviation Society has opened the rear doors of both authentic Second World War aircraft hangars to the public for the first time at this year’s European Heritage Open Days weekend at Maze Long Kesh, Lisburn. The event takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.
Attendance has grown from 1,750 visitors in 2022 to more than 7,200 in 2025. This year’s event extends into a new tarmac compound with additional aircraft and military vehicles. An expanded programme of music and dance accompanies the displays. Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly visited last year’s event.
The free event offers visitors access to historic aircraft hangars and military vehicles. The Ulster Aviation Society continues to attract growing numbers to the heritage weekend.
