Dublin Airport has experienced over 70 flight cancellations following a technical issue atEnglishair traffic control provider Nats. The system disruption has affected hundreds of services across Britain and left thousands of passengers stranded at Irish airports.
The technical failure has impacted Nats’ ability to process flight plans automatically, forcing controllers to input data manually for several hours. Engineers have resolved the primary glitch and systems are recovering, though controllers continue relying on backup systems. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has confirmed no evidence of malicious activity or cyberattack involvement in the outage.
Ryanair has reported over 65,000 passengers affected and more than 50 of its flights cancelled. British Airways has diverted or cancelled over 100 flights. Dublin Airport has warned of possible ongoing disruption on 9 September due to aircraft displacement. Passengers have been advised to check directly with their airlines for status updates.
