Tourism Ireland has hosted a group of influential Italian travel journalists on a food and drink itinerary across the island of Ireland. The group’s itinerary began with a walking food tour with Galway Food Tours, followed by a Burren Gold Cheese tasting at Aillwee Burren Experience and visits to Burren Smokehouse, Cliffs of Moher and Hazel Mountain Chocolate. The group enjoyed a coastal walk and tasting tour with Mungo Murphy’s Seaweed Co. and viewed the World Oyster Opening Championship at the Galway International Oyster Festival.

Marcella Ercolini, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy, shared that Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite the group of influential Italian travel journalists to visit Ireland. She shared that it was a great opportunity to experience local produce and culinary experiences at first-hand, and that media coverage generated from the visit would help raise awareness of the food and drink tourism offering and inspire more Italian holidaymakers to visit.

With over 70pc of potential visitors considering food when choosing a holiday destination, Tourism Ireland is highlighting the food and drink available across the island of Ireland.
