An additional €1.5m will maintain vital transport links for offshore islands as part of Budget 2027. €5.5bn is being allocated to the Department of Transport. This allocation will cover the launch of the Vehicle Adaptation Scheme and will support regional airport connectivity among other projects. Some €4.2bn through the National Development Plan will provide for investment in DART+, BusConnects and the Cork commuter rail projects, as well as road projects such as the Adare Bypass, the Galway Ring Road and the M28 road from Cork to Ringaskiddy.
