Aegean Airlines has confirmed the launch of a new direct route between Athens and Damascus, with flights scheduled to begin on 2 December 2026. The Greek carrier announced the service as part of its strategic expansion to strengthen Athens’ position as a regional aviation hub. The airline will operate up to four flights per week throughout the winter season on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

This move comes amid a broader expansion into the region following geopolitical stabilisation. Alongside Damascus, Aegean Airlines is resuming direct flights between Athens and Dubai on 23 October 2026. The airline is also examining further expansion into North Africa, with possible routes to Tripoli and Benghazi from May 2027 subject to safety approvals.
