Massive flight cancellations are affecting travel to and from Saudi Arabia today, October 11, 2026, following a severe military attack on King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh.
On October 10, at least 12 people have been killed and over 300 injured in a third attack within a week on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The strike hit a complex housing domestic terminals 3 and 4. Operations at the airport have been indefinitely suspended. Terminal 5 in Riyadh is managed by Dublin Airport Authority.
Saudi civil aviation authorities confirmed the dead include four Saudi citizens, two people from Bangladesh, and one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Egypt. Over 309 individuals sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. The Saudi-led military coalition blamed Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels for the assault. The Houthis claimed responsibility for earlier missile and drone strikes earlier in the week which killed three people and damaged a parked aircraft.
Qatar Airways cancelled all scheduled flights between Doha and Riyadh for 11 October. Emirates cancelled flights connecting Dubai with Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam for 11 and 12 October. Air Arabia suspended flights from Sharjah to Riyadh through 11 October. Philippine Airlines extended suspension of Riyadh flights through 11 October. Biman Bangladesh Airlines cancelled all operations from Dhaka to Riyadh. Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air halted or extended cancellations for routes into Riyadh and Jeddah.
Department of Foreign Affairs advice on Saudi Arabia is at the second highest level, avoid non-essential travel.
