Controversy over a trip to see his daughter in Italy during Covid has halted ex-Ryanair executive Michael Cawley’s new role at UCD

Michael Cawley withdrew his name from contention on the governing authority.

Mr Cawley resigned as head of Fáilte Ireland over his trip to Italy during the pandemic.

The University is now seeking a new chair after a lengthy selection process.
