United double daily Dublin Newark & seasonal Chicago from Shannon among 2024 offerings

United has expansion plans on trans-Atlantic routes from Ireland with new aircraft on order, Aoife Gregg United Airlines sales manager for Ireland told 170 delegates at the Travel Centres conference in Naas, Co Kildare.

She expressing gratitude to travel agents and supporters of the routes from Dublin and Shannon. United celebrated 25 years of flying from Shannon, and seasonal service to Newark and Chicaco will return in 2024. United are the only airline on the Shannon to Chicago route. 

The airline offers a double-daily service from Dublin to Newark Liberty International Airport, and also offers services from Dublin to Washington and Chicago, with the  Dublin Chicago route relaunching in April.

The app developed by United in 2019, known as the ultimate travel companion, has been updated and upgraded to provide a range of services such as pre-travel notifications, service recovery, and updates on airport procedures.

She said United has made significant investments in recent years and is eagerly awaiting new aircraft, with expectations of enhanced services and offerings in the future.

A Dublin-San Francisco service, announced in 2020 but not launched because of the pandemic, and an anticipated Dublin-Denver service were not mentioned in the presentation but are believed to be still among the airline plans.
