ITA Airways received its first A220-100 aircraft, the Irish registered EI-HLA, and immediately started using it on the Milan Linate-London City route.
The aircraft, leased from Air Lease Corporation, was flown from Montréal Mirabel to Rome Fiumicino and then repositioned to Linate.
Its first revenue flight took place on November 3, with a configuration for up to 125 passengers in a single-class layout.
ITA Airways has ordered an additional six A220-100s, making it the third global operator of this aircraft type after Swiss and Delta. They also lease seven A220-300s and plan to add nine more from the same lessor. Only the -100 variant is certified for operation at London City Airport.
