The Ibero-American Film Festival at UCD Cinema in Dublin from December 6 to 10, 2023, curated by Federico Sartori for EXIT media and promoted by Spanish Ambassador Ion de la Riva, presents a selection of high-quality films from Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Portugal.

Special focus is given to emerging talents, debut and sophomore works, films directed by women, and socially relevant themes.

The opening film is “Maixabel (Maixabel)” by Icíar Bollaín, inspired by the story of Basque activist Maixabel Lasa. Maixabel Lasa herself will be present for a discussion after the screening on December 6 at 6:00 PM.

The festival’s main section, “New Waves,” showcases six films from recent Ibero-American production, including “Bacurau” by Brazilian directors Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles.
