
CSO Aviation Statistics for Quarter 3 2023 show passenger numbers up 13pc on Q3 2022.
London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick, and Amsterdam-Schiphol were the most popular routes for passengers traveling through Dublin airport. London-Heathrow was also the top route for Cork and Shannon, London-Stansted for Knock, and Dublin for Kerry.
There were 670 fewer flights compared to the same period in 2019. Dublin handled 83pc of all flights (65,020), while Cork accounted for 8pc (5,891). The number of flights to and from Irish airports increased by 9,370 in Q3 2023 compared to Q3 2022.
Air freight handled by Irish airports in Q3 2023 increased by 8pc compared to Q3 2022. The five main airports in the 26 counties saw 11.8m passengers, compared to 10.4m in the same period last year and 11.6m in Q3 2019.
