Climbers of Mount Fuji’s Yoshida Trail on the Yamanashi side must reserve in advance and pay a fee due to issues with excessive tourism and littering, starting July 1 to September 10,
The new rules were announced by Yamanashi prefecture via the Foreign Press Centre of Japan to manage the impact on the 3776-metre-high mountain, which was designated a Unesco World Cultural Heritage site in 2013.
These measures aim to preserve the natural beauty and cultural significance of Mount Fuji by controlling visitor numbers and reducing environmental damage.
