Trips abroad by Irish people were up 13.5pc in May 2024 to 1,255,400, continuing a trend this year of double digit growth

Inbound, the Central Statistics Office says 622,300 foreign visitors completed a trip to Ireland in May 2024, an increase of 8.5pc compared to May 2023

The largest contingent of visitors came from England (34.9pc), followed by the United States (20.2pc), and Germany (7.4pc)

The typical length of inbound tourists’ visit was 7.2 nights, with more visitors staying in hotels (50.1pc) than any other accommodation type

The typical spend of inbound tourists was €1,303, with €334 spent on fare, €51 on prepayments, and €437 on accommodation.
