813 aircraft and counting: Turkish aims to have world’s third largest fleet by 2033

This week’s Turkish Airlines lease deal with AerCap for 10 additional Airbus A321neos advances a plan to have to world’s third largest fleet, 813 aircraft by 2033.

The airline’s ambitious growth targets, aiming to achieve 171m passengers annually and $52bn in revenue by 2033.

Turkish Airlines has placed a massive order for up to 355 Airbus aircraft and is in negotiations with both Airbus and Boeing for further orders.

The airline has faced challenges with its A320neo operations due to accelerated inspections, resulting in some aircraft being grounded. To mitigate this, Turkish Airlines plans to lease additional aircraft to meet its capacity growth targets.

Turkish Airlines serves more countries than any other airline, flying to 347 destinations in 130 countries. By 2033, Turkish is aiming to grow its network to 400 destinations.
