Spain’s antitrust agency CNMC has fined Booking.com €413.2m for abusing its dominant market position in the country.
Booking.com plans to appeal the ruling, believing it should be under the European Union’s Digital Market Act.
CNMC’s complaint is based on Booking.com allegedly prohibiting hotels from offering lower prices on their own sites and imposing price discounts without consulting the hotels.
The fines come after complaints from the Spanish Association of Hotel Managers and the Madrid Hotel Business Association.
