Minister of State James Lawless announced a one-year extension of the Government-funded Public Service Obligation (PSO) air service contract between Donegal and Dublin airports, now running until 25 February 2026.
The contract, awarded to Emerald Airlines in 2022 through an EU public tender, ensures vital air connectivity for isolated areas, enabling same-day return trips and supporting access to essential services.
Lawless emphasized the role of the PSO service in promoting regional development and economic growth, taking account of a 20pc growth in passenger traffic this year, following strong performance since the service commenced.
Emerald Airlines expressed commitment to the Donegal community and assured that concerns about Dublin Airport’s passenger cap would not affect service availability for passengers relying on this route.
