
The European Commission has approved Korean Air’s merger with Asiana Airlines after the carrier met conditions including facilitating a remedy carrier on four overlapping routes and divesting Asiana’s cargo business.
Korean Air has supported t’way Air in starting flights to Barcelona, Frankfurt, Rome, and Paris, and Air Incheon has acquired Asiana’s cargo business.
The merger still awaits approval from the US Department of Justice, with Korean Air providing similar assistance to Air Premia for US routes.
