KLM will trial a Buy on Board (BoB) service from mid-February 2025 on flights from Amsterdam to Oslo, Porto, and Lisbon, while still providing its current free onboard service to gauge passenger reactions.
The trial is part of KLM’s efforts to increase revenue by at least €100m a year through expanded catering offers.
Should the trial succeed, the BoB service will extend across KLM’s short-haul network by the end of 2025, although menus and prices are not yet available.
Most Western European airlines have adopted or plan to adopt paid-for catering on short-haul services, including Air France, which faces trade union opposition for its own BoB trials.
