EasyJet will establish bases at Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino in early 2025, marking a strategic expansion following European Commission approval of Lufthansa Group’s acquisition of ITA Airways.

The airline plans to base five aircraft in Milan and three in Rome, leveraging newly available slots ceded by Lufthansa to enhance competition and route offerings in Central Europe.

easyJet currently services multiple routes from Linate and Fiumicino, with plans to introduce new flights to Manchester and Edinburgh starting March 30, 2025.

By next summer, easyJet will operate a total of 38 aircraft in Italy, solidifying its position as the airline’s second-largest market. Ryanair dominates the Italian market with 38pc market share.
