ITA Airways has transferred its Airbus A220-100, previously registered in Italy, to an Irish registry, with the aircraft now designated as El-MVB at Rome Fiumicino Airport.
The A220-100, configured for 125 passengers, is the smallest in ITA’s fleet and is primarily used for short- to medium-haul routes, including flights to London City Airport.
This model is recognized for its advanced materials that enhance fuel efficiency, resulting in a 25pc reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and up to a 50pc reduction in NOx emissions compared to older aircraft.
ITA Airways aims for 90pc of its fleet to comprise new-generation aircraft by 2027, reinforcing its objective to maintain one of Europe’s youngest airline fleets.
