Syrianair resumed domestic operations on December 18, 2024, flying from Damascus to Aleppo just ten days after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad government, a new departure in the changing political landscape.

The flight on A320-200 YK-AKH, which was slightly repainted to reflect the new authorities, carried journalists, politicians, and paying customers, although further flight plans were not announced following the initial roundtrip.

A Notice to Air Personnel (NOTAM) requires special permissions for all flights to and from Damascus until at least December 24, 2024, and while overflights have resumed, full international flight operations are not yet in place.

Cham Wings Airlines has delayed its planned international operations to Moscow due to ongoing restrictions, following the abrupt closure of Syrian airspace on December 8, 2024, after the government’s collapse.
