Fingal County Council has responded to the planning application from Daa to increase the passenger cap at Dublin Airport from 32m to 36m per year, which is currently under review.

In a written statement the council says the application will be assessed based on national and regional planning guidelines, as well as consultations with the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority related to aircraft noise regulations.

A separate and ongoing application seeks to raise the passenger cap to 40 million and includes plans for 11 infrastructure projects, with a public consultation deadline set for January 8, 2025.

The Planning Authority cannot make a decision on the new cap until it receives necessary information from the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority regarding noise assessment requirements.
