Abu Dhabi aims to become the first city in the world to launch a flying taxi service by late 2025, partnering with US-based Archer Aviation to operate a fleet of eVTOL aircraft.
The Midnight eVTOL aircraft will transport up to four passengers between various vertiports, significantly reducing travel times by up to 80pc compared to traditional ground transportation.
This initiative is part of a broader movement toward sustainable urban travel, with Archer’s Midnight being designed to be safer and quieter than conventional helicopters, targeting speeds of up to 240 kph (150 mph).
Despite many eVTOL startups emerging in recent years, Archer Aviation stands out as one of the most valuable companies in this space, strategically pursuing its first operations in Abu Dhabi with support from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office.
