Air Canada has increased its commitment to the Airbus A220-300 by securing five additional aircraft, bringing its total order to 65 units as part of its fleet expansion strategy.
Although delivery timelines for the latest aircraft have not been disclosed, Air Canada plans to have all firm-ordered A220s in service by 2028.
This marks Air Canada’s third order for the A220-300, previously ordering 45 units in 2016 and an additional 15 in 2022, with 34 of the aircraft already delivered.
As the A220 fleet increases, Air Canada is considering the possibility of basing some aircraft in Vancouver International to enhance operations at its west coast hub.
