Airbus has suspended all flight operations of its subsidiary Airbus Beluga Transport and will wind down the unit, returning its four A300-600ST Belugas to Airbus Transport International (ATI).

The last flight under the Beluga Transport operator’s code occurred on January 17, 2025, from Bordeaux Mérignac to Toulouse Blagnac, while the other three Belugas are currently in storage.

Airbus cited “economic factors” for the closure of the Beluga Transport business, which launched in mid-2022 to specialize in outsized cargo missions using converted nose-loaders.

Following the suspension, Airbus Transport International plans to use larger A330-700ST BelugaXLs, having taken delivery of the final unit in mid-2024 to replace the BelugaST fleet.
