
Michael Ring, former TD and junior minister for tourism, has been named the 2025 Mayo Person of the Year by the Mayo Dublin Association, with the award ceremony set for February 15, 2025, in Dublin.
Ring, who retired in 2023 after a 45-year political career, served in roles including Minister for Regional Economic Development and Minister for Community and Rural Development, representing Fine Gael.
The Solas Visitor Centre on the Erris Peninsula won the Meitheal Award for showcasing the heritage of Erris through its immersive galleries, which opened in 2023.
Founded in 1905, the Mayo Association Dublin has over 600 members and supports the Mayo Diaspora in Dublin through networking and cultural activities.
