Manna, an Irish drone delivery company, will initiate a trial in Finland in collaboration with delivery firm Wolt, focusing on drone deliveries in cold winter conditions.
The trial is set to begin in Espoo, near Helsinki, and aims to assess the effectiveness of drone delivery in harsh climates following prior successes in Ireland, notably in Blanchardstown.
Manna’s founder Bobby Healy expressed excitement over the partnership, emphasizing the importance of improving delivery speed and sustainability while alleviating congestion.
The project aims to deliver to over 150,000 households, while Amazon is also progressing with its own drone delivery trials in Darlington.
Wolt’s head of product development Antti Kosonen shared. “Finland’s snowy and cold winters provide an excellent testing ground to demonstrate that drones can be a reliable solution here in the north. During this pilot, we aim to assess their performance and pave the way for scaling this innovative and sustainable approach.”
Manna’s founder and CEO Bobby Healy shared “We are thrilled to partner with Wolt and bring our technology to Finland. With this collaboration, we are excited to offer customers an unrivalled experience, delivering groceries and meals faster than ever before in a sustainable way that eases road congestion. I’m especially delighted to work with our partners in Finland, following the success in Ireland. It’s a country I have visited often and consistently puts a focus on innovation and improving infrastructure.”
