During a January 24, 2025, earnings call, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers stated that high demand for air travel justifies the continued use of ACMI services to increase capacity.

IndiGo Airlines currently operates 408 owned and dry-leased aircraft, along with 16 wet/damp leases, including A320-200s and B737-8s, and recently added eight damp-leased aircraft in late 2024.

Aircraft groundings at IndiGo peaked in 2024 due to issues with Pratt & Whitney engines but are now decreasing from over 70 to the 60s, with expectations of further reductions in early 2025.

Elbers mentioned that while more grounded aircraft will return to service, this will not directly reduce the number of wet and damp-leased aircraft as IndiGo adjusts leases to align with market demand and support growth
